“Em Lugo (he/him) is a Los Angeles-based artist and technologist who uses computational art and animation to document, emulate, and complicate our relationship with local ecology. Lugo explores how software can redefine our path through the cityscape and draw our attention to the non-human life that persists inside of our infrastructure. His work speaks to a widening cultural rift between people and the natural world, and how technology can enforce or negate that divide. Em holds a BFA in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Design Media Arts at UCLA.”
