“Hyunseo Cho is an artist based between Seoul and Los Angeles. Her practice proposes a more dimensional way of sensing objects and environments by using physical spaces and experiences as metaphors for invisible systems and environments. She is interested in how information delivered through flat interfaces can shape passive perspectives and values, and seeks to suggest more dimensional and alternative ways of seeing.

To do so, she develops alternative tools and interfaces for perceiving environments, or expands immaterial experiences into physical media and spaces such as sculpture, installation, and painting. Through these approaches, her work encourages individuals to perceive and experience the structures of the systems they inhabit in a more active and subjective way.

Hyunseo’s projects have been supported by institutions such as the Arts Council Korea (ARKO), Art Center Nabi, Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture and Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, and have been exhibited at venues including the Gwangju Biennale and the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art. She has participated in residencies at Akademie Schloss Solitude and GlogauAIR.”
