“Meilin Qu is a mediator, a bridge and a catalyst.

As an image maker, curator and narrator, she focuses on the social and instrumentalized role of epistemological tools, sound and latent digitality. Her practice experiments with forms of media presentation, imagery making, spatial narratives, while critically examining data and the use of artificial intelligence.  

Her critical questioning of image-making and technique mechanisms forms the core of Meilin’s curatorial artistic approach. In theory and practice, Meilin’s oeuvre explores how hidden systems operate beyond the norms among technology, infrastructure and daily artifacts. She traces the mutation of images from the manifold analog image to the fragmented, fluid, and generated digital image, and the resulting implications for the representation of wars, surveillance, and capital flows.

Meilin holds a B.A. in Design Curating and Spatial Narratives, Visual Communication from Central Academy of Fine Arts[China] and is pursuing an M.F.A. in Design Media Arts at UCLA, and has been shown in a variety of contexts in Beijing, LA, Shanghai, Qingdao and online.”
